This recognition reflects the continued hard work, care, and high standards shown across our entire team. Achieving the 2-star status isn’t easy, and to have done it three years in a row is something we’re really proud of.
“I am beyond proud of the whole team. We know how much work goes into every part of our supply chain and production process,” said Steve Carvell, Managing Director at Classic Brick. “Receiving the BQC 2-star accreditation again shows our ongoing commitment to doing things properly, from quality control, sustainability, and supporting our team and customers.”
What is the Brick Quality Charter?
The Brick Quality Charter (BQC) is a quality mark developed by the Brick Development Association (BDA). It was created to help raise standards across the industry and highlight manufacturers and suppliers who are working responsibly, ethically, and to a consistently high level.
What Does It Take to Get BQC Accredited?
To receive the 2-star BQC status, companies are assessed across a number of key areas, known as Core Assessment Points (CAPS). These cover everything from product quality to how a business operates behind the scenes.
The key areas include:
Product Compliance & Traceability
Meeting British and European standards, ensuring clear labelling, and tracking products from production to delivery.
Quality Management
Having strong systems in place, such as ISO 9001, to ensure that products are checked, tested, and managed effectively.
Environmental Responsibility
Commitment to sustainability, including carbon reporting and responsible sourcing, supported by certifications like ISO 14001 and BES 6001.
Health & Safety
Having proper safety systems in place, such as ISO 45001, and looking after people both on-site and in the wider supply chain.
Ethical & Social Responsibility
Clear policies on modern slavery, a focus on employee wellbeing, and ensuring fair and ethical practices throughout the business.
Customer Service
Offering reliable support and having a clear, fair process in place to handle any issues or complaints.
Training & Development
Investing in staff training and encouraging a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Being awarded this accreditation for a third time means a lot to us. It shows that our approach, putting quality, responsibility, and people at the heart of what we do, is working.
We’re grateful to our team for their ongoing commitment, and to our clients and partners for continuing to trust Classic Brick as a supplier they can rely on.
