Sparrow Box

House sparrows were once one of the UK’s most common birds, but their population has dropped by over 50% since the 1970s.

They are highly social and prefer to nest close together, often in the nooks and crannies of older houses. With fewer traditional nesting places available, providing purpose-built sparrow boxes offers them a safe breeding site.

These resilient birds are key for controlling insects and are a much-loved part of Britain’s natural soundscape – their cheerful chirping a sign of thriving urban biodiversity.
