Classic Brick Company Factory given 2-star rating by Brick Development Association

Now, the Brick Development Association (BDA) has recognised that high standard by awarding our Doğanay Toprak Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş partner factory in Turkey a 2-star rating following an inspection.
This is an increase from the 1-star rating received previously and makes ours the only independent factory in Turkey to have achieved the higher score.
The BDA’s Brickmakers Quality Charter is the only way to identify responsible clay brick manufacturers. It looks beyond just the manufacturing of the bricks themselves to take a much wider view of the factory, making it a valuable and comprehensive standard.
The eight Critical Assessment Points are:
- Business Quality Management System (ISO 9001)
- Responsible Sourcing System (BES 6001)
- Energy Management System (ISO 50001)
- Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
- Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001 or the BCC H&S Pledge)
- Employment Practice System (that meets the brickmaker’s National Standard)
- Anti-Modern Slavery Policy & Procedures (that meets the brickmaker’s National Standard)
- CPR Compliance in all Clay-brick Products
By evidencing at least six of the above categories, our factory received a 2-star rating – meaning that when you buy from Classic Brick Company you know that our service is supported by good business practices all the way up the supply chain.
In addition to producing some of the very best handmade bricks on the market, the factory has also made improvements in other areas.
A solar panel array has been added to produce clean energy and make our bricks a more sustainable product – a benefit that is then passed on to you when you choose a Classic Brick Company product.
Furthermore, health and safety improvements have been made across the factory so that you are also buying a product which is produced more ethically.
